Clarion Inn and Suites hosts Shortridge High School Rowing Club
February 5,2010
Clarion Inn and Suites Northwest will host the Shortridge Rowing Club this winter as the students learn to swim in preparation for spring rowing. Clarion has graciously offered IRC and Shortridge use of the hotel pool twice per week immediately after school. Shortridge Rowing Club is a program of the Indianapolis Rowing Center and Indianapolis Public Schools. Coached by Emily Hubacek, a Shortridge teacher and former Purdue Rower, the Shortridge Rowing Club has been training on the indoor rowing machines in preparation for the spring rowing season. The swim instruction and waters safety classes allow students the opportunity to become comfortable with the water before rowing on Eagle Creek Reservoir. Non-swimmers can wear life jackets while rowing, but it is a program goal to promote water safety in addition to physical fitness and valuable life- skills. Clarion Inn and Suites Northwest, located at 465 and 71st Street as the official hotel of IRC. Clarion Inn and Suites offers a convenient stay and excellent pricing for out of town competitors and spectators just 15 minutes from the rowing course. For more information, please contact IRC Director Bernadette Teeley.
