As Indianapolis’s only community rowing club, IRC offers a wide-range of opportunities for youth and adults to reach their rowing goals. This spring and summer, IRC will offer competitive programs for adults and college students, sculling classes for adults and youth, summer camps and classes for youth, and instruction and recreational opportunities for all. Classes run from March through the end of September and most classes meet for 6-8 sessions. There are two disciplines in rowing – sweep rowing and sculling. Sweeping is when each person in the boat has one oar. Sculling is when each individual has two oars. Sweep rowing can be done in a pair, four and eight (2, 4, or 8 person boat). Sculling can be done in a single, double or quad (1, 2, or 4 person boat). Please click here for a schedule of spring and summer classes or check out the IRC calendar on our website.
