Masters Program

The IRC Masters Program welcomes dedicated adult rowers of all skill levels and ages.  The Masters Program provides an outlet for rowers’ goals by encouraging personal improvement and development in a fun but yet competitive team setting.  The Masters program practices three times per week throughout the year, and competes throughout the summer and fall across the Midwest and Nationally.

The Masters Program training plan is designed to improve boat handling and speed, physical fitness and technique in order to compete at national and regional regattas.  The IRC Masters program has traditionally emphasized sweep rowing, but will be introducing sculling more throughout the year.   IRC has dedicated master’s program coaches who are qualified sweep and sculling instructors.

The Masters program is open only to IRC members.  All Masters rowers must be IRC members in good standing.  For fall races and regional regattas, additional travel and trailer fees apply.

The 2011 – 2012 Winter training season begins December 1st and runs through March 3rd.  Masters rowers interested in participating in the winter season can register here.  The fee is $100 for the winter.  This helps cover a facility usage fee that IRC is paying The Riviera Club for use of a designated erg room.

IRC members can join the masters program on a monthly basis ($50/month) or for the year ($360 annual fee).  Please contact Jen (jen@indyrowing.org) about this option or call the office at (317) 327-7100.

New and returning rowers looking for a team rowing experience with fewer competitive oportunities should see the IRC classes and clinics page for more options.

Coxswains, we need you!  Dedicated coxswains are treasured. Please contact masters membership liason Kevin Connolly for more information.

IRC asks masters rowers to make a leadership committment by serving on an IRC committee and/or volunteering at IRC events, including regattas, National Learn to Row Day, and fundraising.  Please contact Jen (jen@indyrowing.org) if you are interested in serving on a committee or volunteering.
