MACRA

2011 Mid American Collegiate Rowing Association
Championship Regatta
Saturday, April 30, 2011
Eagle Creek Park
Indianapolis, IN

DUE TO THE RECENT STORMS, THE MACRA CHAMPIONSHIPS (April 30th)  HAVE BEEN CANCELLED.

The Indianapolis Rowing Center regrets to announce the cancellation of the MACRA Championships which were scheduled for this Saturday.  Due to the storms that have passed through the region over the past week, the venue is un-rowable.  Several mature trees, as well as smaller debris, have covered the racing area and torn out the first 1000 meters of the rowing course.  Additionally, there is a strong current coming across the course which is bringing down more. Today, IRC enlisted the help of many extra volunteers to try to remove the debris and to untangle the cabling for the course.  Late this afternoon, the chief official, Larry Tolle, met with the local organization committee on site at Eagle Creek.  He then discussed the conditions with a few MACRA coaches. Given the condition of the reservoir, it would  not be safe to row this weekend.  Several of the MACRA crews are now planning to meet in Grand Rapids, Michigan to race on Saturday.

There will be no racing at IRC on Saturday.
