Mission

 To develop youth and adults of all social and economic backgrounds through the sport of rowing by providing experienced and knowledgeable instruction, a variety of skill-enhancing programs, and world-class facilities.

The Center

 Indianapolis Rowing Center (IRC) is located in Eagle Creek Park on the Northwest side of Indianapolis. The facilities include a large pole barn that houses private boats, club boats, and boats belonging to area colleges. There are on site shower and restroom facilities, as well as the director’s office. The boathouse is open March- November.
 IRC hosts a number of annual events: The Indianapolis Indoor Rowing Championships in January; The Indianapolis Collegiate Invitational in April; US Rowing Nationals and the Midwest Masters Regatta in summer, and the Head of the Eagle Regatta in October.
 IRC boosts one of the county’s few 2,000 meter race courses that are sanctioned for international competition by FISA, the international governing body of rowing.  IRC hosted the World Championships in 1994 and the NCAA National Championships in 2002.  

The Programs

Juniors:   A competitive high school program comprising 85 students from 14 area high schools.  The juniors compete in fall and spring regattas throughout the Midwest. Open to any high-school student, no experience necessary.

Master’s:   A program for post-collegiate scullers and rowers.  This team program is coached several times per week.  Crews compete throughout the Midwest and Canada.

Learn to Row and Scull series: Multiple class for all ages and competency levels, offered to the public throughout the summer months.

Corporate Challenge:   Summer league for local corporations. Participants receive coaching in preparation for an end-of-summer race.

Community Outreach: IRC offers a summer indoor/outdoor rowing program at Rhodius Park.  Also, IRC provides opportunities for private camps, high-school summer physical education programs, and area businesses to row for a day.
