Middle School Spring Registration
Program: Middle School Team
Description: The Middle School Team gives middle school students interested in rowing a chance to get a feel for the rowing team without the pressure of competing constantly. Athletes will learn the basics of sweep rowing (one oar per person) and sculling (two oars per person), as well as experience land-based training on the rowing machines. The focus is on water safety, basic rowing skills and terms, with special attention to establishing good technique. The session will give the kids a taste of what a rowing season is like and will hopefully build a love of the sport.

Program Option: Middle School Thursday Practice with extra competitive opportunities
Description: The Thursday practice option is available for middle school athletes looking for additional competitive opportunities. An additional Thursday practice will be provided that will be run in a fashion closer to the way our junior practices are run. The effort level will be higher and coaches will have a higher expectation for the athletes. Athletes participating on Thursdays may also be invited to attend additional regattas, based on athlete performance and the logistics of setting boat lineups consistent with the event offerings of the regatta. Due to logistics constraints, not all athletes may be invited to participate in one of these additional regattas. This program will add two additional weeks to the program to cover potential attendance at Midwest Junior Championships during which these athletes will practice Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
