This program is designed for Middle Schoolers interested in learning the basics of rowing and experiencing the fun and camaraderie that comes along with the sport. Practices meet two times a week during the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall seasons. All seasons are outdoors except for Winter. During a typical practice, athletes will warm up together on land and then go on the water. The athletes will practice safe boat-handling skills and familiarize themselves with rowing terminology while learning basic rowing techniques.
This program also allows athletes to experience competition with other middle school programs throughout the Midwest. The Indianapolis Rowing Center Middle School Program is for all students in grades 6 through 8. IRC is a USRowing registered club drawing over 50 Middle School athletes from all over the Indianapolis area.
