Welcome to IRC Junior Rowing

The Indianapolis Rowing Center Junior Rowing program is for students in the Indianapolis area grades 9-12. We are a no-cut, year-round program, and no experience is required. We have a number of different options available depending on your level of experience and interest.

Our competitive year starts each fall, running from late August to early November. During this season we practice out of our Eagle Creek Park boathouse and compete in a number of regattas in the Midwest region. Each year our fall season ends in Chattanooga, TN at the Head of the Hooch, one of the largest regattas in the country.

During the winter season, which runs from mid-November to early March, we train indoors at a local gym. We are currently working out of the AFCO Crossfit gym in Zionsville. We combine work on the indoor rowing machines with strength and conditioning workouts. Our winter season ends with our participation in the Indianapolis Indoor Rowing Championships.

Spring season runs from mid-March through mid-May and is back at our Eagle Creek Park boathouse. During the season we compete in several regional regattas before ending our season at the Midwest Rowing Championships in Cincinnati, OH. This regatta is a qualifying regatta for the USRowing Youth National Championships, to which we send a number of crews each season.

Finally, our summer season, also at Eagle Creek, is an opportunity for our athletes to have some fun in a low-pressure environment, working on technical development and fitness improvement.
