Our Adult Learn to Row program is your invitation to step off the shore, pick up an oar, and discover the joy of rowing. Whether you're looking for a fun new activity, a way to meet great people, a peaceful escape into nature, or simply a fresh experience outside the ordinary, you’ll find it here.
No experience (or special fitness level) needed — just bring a spirit of adventure, and we’ll take care of the rest!

About the Class
Adult Learn-to-Row (LTR) is an 8-session introductory course that teaches you the fundamentals of rowing in a fun, supportive environment. Over the month, our experienced IRC coaches will guide you through:

Proper rowing technique on the rowing machine and on the water

Rowing terminology, safety, and boat handling

Working as a team in an eight-person (sweep) boat — one oar per person

Course Length: 8 sessions over one month

When: Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:15 PM – 8:15 PM

What Happens After Learn to Row?
After completing your LTR course, you’ll have two exciting pathways to continue rowing:

Adult Foundations Tier - Continue rowing in a coached team environment.
- Boathouse Membership: For rowers who wish to row outside of our coached teams, either with their own equipment or using club boats & equipment.

Before Your First Class

USRowing Membership Required:
All participants must have, at a minimum, a USRowing 60-day Learn to Row Membership which is available for just $10. If you prefer, you can also choose the annual basic membership for $25.

Swim Test or Life Jacket Option:
For your safety, we encourage all rowers to complete a swim test before the first class.
➔ However, the swim test is not required.
If you prefer, you may choose to wear a life jacket while on the water during your Learn to Row sessions instead.

Park Entrance Fee:
Eagle Creek Park requires a park entry fee to access the rowing center. You have two options:-
Pay the daily entry fee of $6 for Marion County residents or $7 for non-Marion County residents each time you visit.

Or purchase an Annual Foundation Pass at a $35 discount using the IRC code.

Cost: $299 for the full 8-session course
- Refund policy: 50% refund if within 7 days or less of the program start date. No refunds are available after the first day of the program.
