Junior on the Water Practice Plan
Spring and Fall, all rowers practice Monday through Friday 4:30-6:30 pm at the Indianapolis Rowing Center Boathouse in Eagle Creek Park. Saturday practices are highly encouraged, but optional.
4:00 - 4:30 Practice preparation
Official practice starts at 4:30 pm and rowers are expected to be ready to start at that time. It is advised to arrive early, if possible, to change into practice clothes and help prepare for practice by taking oars down to the docks and setting up launches. This is also a great time to socialize with teammates before practice begins.
4:30 - 4:40 Dynamic Warmup
We will start each practice with a full team dynamic warmup.
4:40 - 4:45 Pre-practice boat meeting
The coaches will set lineups and go over the practice plan each day. This meeting helps assure that everybody understands what will be happening at practice.
4:45 - 6:15 On the water (weather permitting)
Boats will be on the water for about 90 minutes. As the fall progresses, boats will come off the water sooner to allow for other programs to start practice.
6:15 - 6:30 Boat meetings and clean-up
The rowers will meet with their coaches to go over what occurred during practice. Rowers will be expected to put away any equipment that they used during practice and to help break down launches if required.
Practice ends at 6:30PM.
