Welcome to IRC Junior Rowing, Summer 2025
Junior summer rowing will be open to the following athletes:
- Athletes that participated during the fall or spring seasons and graduated from high school this year.
- Experienced rowers that will be a high school athlete in fall 2025, either IRC athletes or visiting rowers. This includes athletes that participated as 8th graders in the IRC middle school program this spring or last fall.
- Experienced IRC middle school athletes that will be in 8th grade in fall 2025. These athletes should request acceptance into the summer camp by emailing Coach Mike, who along with Coach Sharon and Coach Joe (Hawkins) will determine if the athlete is ready for the level of intensity expected of junior athletes. Athletes should be prepared to row 8,000 - 10,000 meters per day at competitive intensity and seriousness.
The summer rowing program for 2025 will be somewhat different than it has been in the past as it will be a 6-week program. Practices will begin the week of June 2nd and run through the week of July 7th. The summer session will culminate with our attendance at the Chicago Sprints, July 11 - 13. Summer practices will be held weekdays at 6:30am. We will not be holding weekend or afternoon practices this summer. All athletes (red & black, men and women) will be practicing concurrently with coaches creating lineups daily based on attendance and goals. This is a great opportunity for all athletes to gain additional experience as they prepare for the 2025-2026 racing season.
